Background: Payne's story is told in the ninth book of the series, Lover Unleashed.  She was imprisoned by her mother for centuries and her existance was kept secret from her twin, Vishous. Suffering from a paralyzing injury, the Brotherhood enlists the help of human surgeon Manny Manello to help her and that is how the two meet. She has healing powers as one of her gifts for being part deity. She is a fierce warrior. and is the one to kill the Bloodletter to avenge her brother Vishous.
